FRACTAL operates in 9 southern African cities. In Tier 1 cities, researchers bring stakeholders together to better understand climate-related issues and support discussions around possible solutions. Embedded Researchers have been appointed inside organisations where city-regional decisions are made. The research in Tier 2 cities focuses on the transferability of relevant climate knowledge. In the self-funded cities research is being carried out related to various climate issues faced by these cities. There are also significant cross-city engagements and bilateral exchanges, which enable learning between the cities.
